It all started when my son was 6 years old....
One day in school, the teacher gave each child a picture of a one hundred dollar bill. She told them to write on that page what they would do if they were given one hundred dollars to spend. Connor wrote on his paper that he would buy a dog.
Well, that's all it took! We had just moved into our new home that July and we didn't have a dog. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to buy a dog. We fenced in the entire backyard, which is over 1/2 an acre. I wanted a long haired dog,but not a large dog and I wanted something that came in more than one color. That's when I decided on a Sheltie. My search began and it took nearly 5 months before I located two breeders within driving distance that would have puppies available at the same time.
I had it all planned, Connor and Hannah both have birthdays in March and I wanted to buy each of them a puppy and I wanted two females so they could keep each other company. I wanted a Blue Merle and my husband wanted a Sable. I felt it was important to learn all I could about the colors before deciding on the sex of the puppies. And a tri color male was the only way to go, for another addition later that year.
The girls were born a day apart in December 1998. We drove to see them when they were just babies and put a deposit on each until they were ready to go. Mid February ,we brought them home and celebrated early birthdays. The kids were so excited. Hannah was going to be 3 and Connor was turning 7.
We chose Sadie for Hannah and gave her a name of "Sadie, My Guardian Angel "and her name suits her well. Abby was chosen for Connor and we named her"Abigail, Dreams Come True". Who would have ever thought that one assignment in the classroom could turn in to all of this!!
The reason I decided to start raising Shelties is because we had such a hard time finding a breeder to buy from. Shelties are such wonderful pets and we wanted to be able to help other families find that special companion by raising quality pups of our own. We have hand picked each of our Shelties and we have learned alot from several years of breeding so far. Our puppies are mainly raised as family companions, and some are competing in agility and are doing very well.
I try to keep in touch with each and every family and their new puppy. I really enjoy receiving pictures and stories throughout the years.
This is the beginning of our collection..........
